Movie Review: Hichki

Star Cast: Rani Mukerji, Neeraj Kabi, Shiv Subrahmanyam, Sachin Pilgaonkar, Supriya Pilgaonkar, Asif Basra.

Director: Siddharth P Malhotra.

What’s Good: If we talk about what’s good in the movie then it’s just about the unblemished superb acting by Rani Mukerji along with the whole bunch of ill-famed students. And some beautiful emotive moments.

What’s Bad: In the first half Rani gets too much vocal tremor which is well managed in the second half. The storyline is sometimes improbable but somehow managed then.

Script Analysis: Even if after having so many chinks the movie still is alluring enough to hold you back to your seats because of the great acting by Rani. The second best thing after rani is the way Siddharth and Ankur Chaudhry have handled the syndrome so well.

There are also some scenes which you might relate to last year’s hollywood flick Wonder. The journey of facing the soceity and getting accepted by it was good but not too good to hold the audience for a long time.

Star Performance: Rani Mukerji is literally the queen of the film and steals every frame with her presence. This bollywood flicks marks up her effortless beautiful comeback to the film industry once again.

Neeraj Kabi as the head of the student’s council and Shiv Subrahmanyam as the principal of the school are good with their respective roles. The bunch of ill-famed students is superly talented and each one of them has given memorable performances.

Direction and Music: We are family director Siddharth P Malhotra has perfectly played his part. The teacher-student propinquity takes a lot of time to build but once it’s out there it’s splendid.

Jasleen Royal has composed the songs for the film which go toe to toe with each situations and is successfull to delineate it beautifully. Hitesh Sonik’s background score is passable as we have heard some amazing work from him.

Watch or not: All said and done, Rani has made the best movie of her career till date. Watch it for her and a pure message for the soceity.
